Firstly, congratulations on qualifying for the Obedience Championships at Crufts 2026!
As before the Kennel Club will be sending out entry forms to all qualifiers by e-mail.
Would all qualifiers please note the following:
If you were there in 2025 we have your e-mail address on file and you need to do nothing, unless of course you have changed your e-mail address since then.
If you were not there in 2025 would you please send me your e-mail address.
If you need to contact me could you do so either by e-mail glencraigdogs@hotmail.com or by Facebook Message. Please do not reply on this thread as your information will be public.

We've been on weather watch since the weekend and although it isn't forecast to be as hot as they first said, it still looks to be 28/29, but as this could change again we have made the decision to pull the start time forward to 9am, with show opening at 8am. (We can't put the rings up until the morning of the show).
Those in the running order will be contacted.

Obviously, it is up to each individual to decide if their dogs can cope with the heat but our judges and stewards have no choice - DO NOT KEEP THEM WAITING!

This is a public venue so we advise caution when leaving your vehicles open.

Car park monitoring will be taking place.

Those that were at the show in 2023 will remember the "concern" of the locals, please do not give them cause this year.

I am judging APT 2 . I and my steward are in our 70's and 80's and find it hard to tolerate the expected hot humid weather. I am asking if anyone could loan us a tent for the day, to give us some shelter.

Cheshire Dog Show

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Alyson Farry can no longer judge ‘C on Saturday. Our huge thanks go to Margo (Lewis) who has kindly agreed to step in. However, is there a kind soul who will steward Margo’s round. It was be a straightforward round and you will be well looked after.

As you may be aware, Cheshire D.T.A. support a local Charity - Shad’s Legacy, who rescue large breed dogs from the pound who are due to be p.t.s. The Charity is really struggling at the moment and we are doing what we can to help them. They recently rescued a GSD from the pound who was pregnant and has since given birth to 10 pups which has put the strain on finances all the more prevalent.

We would like to ask each of you coming to our Show if you could kindly bring an item from the list below - the Rescue would be so appreciative.

* Puppy food
* wet dog food - trays, pouches, tins
* Unused but in-date medication
* Unwanted collars & leads for large breed dogs
* Strong dog toys

Any donations, which will be gratefully received by the Charity, can be brought to the table outside the Secretary’s tent at the Marquee.

Addition to my report regarding our show held 17/18th May, in my report I forgot possibly the most important person our first aider Anthony Snook and his girlfriend Emma. I am really sorry both it was certainly not intentional, getting old and forgetful. Also our daughter Wendy who came to help Saturday afternoon. I knew I had missed someone but could not think, Anthony was put to the test when Jill decided to have an argument with the ground, the ground winning slightly. Anyway hopefully I will be forgiven and both will be at our show next year 16/17th May.

Classes B and C are full, no point of going on the reserve list already over subscribed.
A still has a few places, Novice also still has places and Pre-beginner/beginner has plenty of places.

For a change we had good weather for the whole weekend not a drop of rain! Thank you to all judges and stewards who gave a day up for us, a big thank you to Stewart Kimblin, Nicki Fildes-Moss and Heather Cook who jumped in at the last minute to judge and saved me a lot of hassle. Thanks also to everyone who helped Tony also being Chief Steward, Jacki, Jill, Cheryl and her husband Brett and son Brett and his friend. Thank you to Delia for her behind the scenes stuff she did, you may or may not know she has now emigrated and living in Australia. A big thank you once again to Julie and Neil (Jacki's friends) who come every year to help starting with the parking and then anything else going it is really appreciated. Thanks also to Lyn and Mick Tozer and Kathy Hood and Peter Height who came Friday to help set up, also Janet Beverley. Think that’s everyone hopefully not forgotten anyone, if I have thank you. Congratulations to all winners including Mary and Kathy the ticket winners good luck at Crufts next year. Just a few moans a few people who did not clean up after their dogs leaving it for others to do, I did say we have a new groundsman and wanted the show to be okay, luckily some kind people collected along with their own, thank you. Another moan was the speed some of you were doing driving onto the venue IT IS A DOG SHOW a loose dog could be under a wheel in seconds please next year watch your speed, most are sensible but there were a few who were not. Show is booked for next year 16and 17th May if you would like to judge for us please contact me.

This year's show has been & gone. My thanks to everyone who helped before, during & after the show.
Congratulations to all the placed teams & hoped everyone enjoyed their day.

Will there be another show ? The jury is still out on that decision at this time.

There were some chairs found in the pre parade area where the Introductory class was. I couldn't bring them home with me & if anyone is missing them they should contact the Racecourse & they were left in the Owners & trainers building.

We have a few problems this year, first of all and very important Steve has retired and a new groundsman has taken his place who is much stricter than easy going Steve. On no account is anyone allowed to drive on the pitches, he will be there and watching. If this does happen and we loose the venue because of it I can categorically say now I will not look for another venue and the show will finish. It is now up to everyone to obey this rule anyone being stroppy will be asked to leave. Next the rugby club has reached some final and Saturday will be parking cars on the gravel at the entrance to the show then going off in coaches to where the match is, luckily not here. In the evening they will be in the clubhouse celebrating or not whichever. Anyway we cannot hold the quiz there, was going to do it underneath the balcony but it may be noisy or other problems so I have decided to cancel it which is a shame because it is always popular. We normally have a collection for the special class so this year I will have a box on my table at secretaries tent for donations. Julie and Neil who park vehicles have nothing to do with our club they just come each year and help which is very much appreciated. Because of all these problems anyone not going where told or verbally abusing Julie and Neil will be asked to leave! Really sorry to go on about things but at least we can hold the show and decent weather is forecast. Please do not cause us any more problems.

Brenda Robert’s is unable to judge the class and Nicki Fildes-Moss has offered to judge it with Peter Height stewarding, thank you both.

I would like to thank everyone for their lovely comments following my recent post regarding the obedience show at Stanhope, they are all much appreciated.
The team and I would just like to say thank you to all the people who have given up their days to judge and steward over the years so that the show could be kept going for this long.
Thanks to Hedda, Liz and Sharon for coming to clean the rings before the show, so they were clear of sheep poo!!
Big thank you to Janice, my go to with any problems and for doing the schedule, catalogue and draws, much appreciated.
Not sure what next year holds, we shall have to wait and see.
