OLC Discussion - Capped C Classes

Started by dawncox76 on 30 Oct 2026 08:02
Discussion on Capped Classes put forward by members of the Obedience Community

This is a discussion paper following online submissions by members of the Obedience Community to gather views exploring the management of entries to Capped Classes. If there is support for an idea from these discussions that could proceed to a rule change, it would be fully consulted on as a formal proposal.

The OLC has received discussion items from 3 people from the Obedience Community around the subject of entering Capped Classes. We would like to thank them for the time and thought put into their contributions.

Once again though, we need to hear from you.

These submissions have originated out of the frustrations of Competitors not being able to enter the Capped C classes at recent shows - capped due to the current difficulty in recruiting C judges.

The three suggestions can be summarised into 2 discussion items (Full submissions included in Section 2:

Discussion 1 – Prioritising entry to capped C classes to those who have judged or stewarded Class C in the previous 12 months, or have acted as Chief Steward in the same time period. Once priority booking is closed - booking will be available for all.

Discussion 2 – (amalgamation of 2 similar submissions) Restricting entries to Capped classes to those who intend to compete, rather than to train the round - so freeing up more competitive places, making the class more progressive and allowing the judge’s day to run more smoothly.
